Anyone Work In A Fish Shop/aquarium?

I'm hoping to get a job in a fish shop, but was wondering what sort of qualifications would help?
I've heard science can be important.....but to be honest i really don't like science
I am thinking of getting a diploma in fish biology...would this be helpful?
Some advice please? i'm wondering what might be the best route

Any customer serviced based job will help, if you are dealing with the general public thats a skill to master in itself.

Low paid or part time weekends jobs are a good way of making a few friends too. Just try target it towards fish shops. Gluck

I was just wondering as we have 2 fish shops, 1 which everyone seems to know everything which would be harder to get
and pets at home

Yep good advice, anything with a customer service/sales/interraction element (e.g. anything from working in a general store - through to a call centre - super market etc. etc.)

An interest in pets (i.e. having fish yourself and talking about their care)

General knowledge of fish (and mentioning that you read things like practical fish keeping)

and the four most important elements:

Well presernted at interview,
Enthusiastic,
Communicative,
Friendly.

Because thats what they want for their customers.

I did 2 weeks work experience at an lfs when I was at school... Two of the happiest weeks of my life

Just experience, there aren't really any qualifications you can have for the average job at the LFS.

You don't need a degree in anything to be good at it, a qualification is just a piece of paper.

You just need to be knowledgeable, mature and confident.

i started work in my local lfs a few months ago and the only way i got the job was from learning everything i could from here so yeh cheers guys

TBH the fact you're already into fish keeping should help you a lot.
