Just found the following site: http://www.aquariumworld.co.uk/equipment/i...arget=d271.html

I'm thinking of buying some AlfaCoral at £20 for ten kilos to disperese around my work in progress Mbuna Tank.

Has anyone used this rock? Is it a false rock?

According to the item description: This decorative aquarium material creates an attractive natural looking underwater environment which is similar in appearance to real coral. It's many cavities make it highly suitable for colonisation by marine organisms, which help improve water quality. However like real coral it has some sharp edges which makes it unsuitable for larger smooth sided species.
AlfaCoral is manufactured in the U.K. under strict quality conditions. It comes in a multitude of shapes and sizes, and is available worldwide.

Lightweight
Porous
Displaces minimum water
Suitable for marine and fresh water

Never heard of it but i'n not sure why you'd want coral in a cichlid tank, you don't find much coral in an inland lake.

Sorry, i'ts one my bug bears, i always think the decor should at least imitate the fish's natural environment. :D

Ok fair enough. New to this Mbuna lark as you can see from my amount of new threads! Can you recommend a type of rock?

I was thinking Ocean Rock and Tufa Rock amongst others?

Ocean/tuffa rock always works and looks good. Other than avoiding sharp edged rocks, its pretty much up to you. Rose quartz looks stunning and makes a good centerpiece.

Not into pink though thanks!

Think I have my 'heart' set on a majority of Lace Rock though, especially after seeing someone post pics of their tank on this forum!

The downside to the site with the Alfa Coral is the postage costs. Almost as much as the thing itself!

i know you do not like pink but i bought a piece of rock today and i think it looks really nice thought i would show you see what you thought.
