I have this exact tank and it's great. The filter in the lid is brilliant if you take the stupid carbon cartridges out and re-organise a bit. Mine has the ceramic media that came with it on the left side with a sponge layer and filter floss on top, the whole of the right hand box is full of ceramic media in a net bag. in my view as it comes the space you need for real bio media is wasted on carbon and two many sponges. The way mine is set up I just bin and replace the floss every so often and the rest stays clean but biologically active. Height of the tank is a bit of a pain but we wanted a tall tank for the location and have to accept that's the downside.

due to the shape, the stocking for that tank is limited, also due to the small water surface area this lessens the oxygen transfer even more so id avoid tall skinny tanks at all costs unless you like guppys or such

You can't have an AquaOne thread without my 5 pennith worth :hyper:

With the trickle filter and return, surface aggitation and aireation is good which will make up for the tall-verses-small surface area

Yeah, lovely tanks....blah...blah...blah

Buy it or I'll send the boys round :sly:

It isn't exactly tall and skinny although a little more so than your standard tank but the filter arrangement is great for gas exchange so I'm sure that more than makes up for it. Mine is over-stocked by the normal rules of thumb but everything works perfectly and ammonia and nitrate never fluctuate from zero). I have Endlers, peppered corys, green neons, a bridled minnow, a clown plec and a handful of amano shrimp, although the tank is taller than usual there is always something going on at all levels in the tank with these inmates.

My one reservation is the lighting and I can't imagine how you could fit anything different. It's great for me as I am not interested in plants and all my aquascaping is plastic (yes I know.....) so I've no idea if there is enough light for plants.

Not trying to start a slanging match just sharing my experience.

And i dont have a cleaning issue-just purchase a magnet for the algae and a long reach gravel cleaner-no problems.

oh im so pleased it arrived at about 3.45, i have cleaned it all, set it up (the guy has just this min emailed me the intructions for the lights wiring etc  ) but have done it all now, there is a tiny bit of water damage to the stand ( just under the tank to the right of pic)
but the guy was so nice he stopped off to buy me a new 300w heater, new set of sponges for the filter, and gave me tonnes of plants etc, very nice man
