Anyone Ever Ordered Tropica Plants Online From Dartford Aquatics?

Could be the case here, today/tomorrow will tell. According to a phone call this morning (to check stuff would be delivered OK to my work address and I'd not be left with some plants sitting over the weekend to die) things were despatched yesterday via Recorded Delivery so they should be here today. Website still says 'Pending' though.

I haved used these guys in the past and would use again:

Java-Plants

Service is reliable and plants are good quality! Takes a week to get the goods though as they import but worth it IMO.

I'm getting picky with plants now, I have ordered from a few companies in the past, and whilst they (and probably Java too) have provided superb plants, they are not at the standard provided by Tropica. Over time, and as EI settles in, I am gradually replacing the bulk-buy plants with some long term ones from Tropica.

I would use Greenline in the future again, they are superb, but they don't have some of the plants Tropica produce.

Mine are being delivered to work, but I'm away from my main site this morning. I should be able to call through later today and check.

I hate waiting for things. Right now I'm waiting for a new diffuser from malaysia, ordered some marimo balls last night so should have them tomorrow, also waiting for replies to some emails, specifically about a second hand tank I'm going to buy. Too much waiting :D *taps fingers*

My pet hate is companies who do not respond to communications. If I send an e-mail to a company who readily has their e-mail address on their site for contact purposes, I don't like then having to phone up, they tell me 'oh yeah, you sent me an e-mail a few days ago' but they have not responded to it. If they reply to an e-mail it means I do not have to phone, nor sit waiting in-between the e-mail and phone call wondering what is going on.

Credit to AquaEssentials here, they have always been very prompt, polite and open in replies to the few queries I have e-mailed them with.

I agree! I can't stand companies that don't get back to you. Good customer service is the one thing that stands out and I will always favour companies that offer that

Oh, and companies who need to learn how to use the 'Secrecy' button on their phone when calling. I swear myself occasionally, but I don't appreciate listening to someone swear whilst I am 'on hold' because their computer isn't working.

Well, it has turned up.

Tube and starter are fine, can't say I'm impressed with the plant (rotala wallichii), it is not in a tropica pot nor has a relevant label. It is covered in dark algae, I thought the plant was dead at first. I am assuming that the plant has been held in store for ages, the roots are very well established.

Anyone wish to comment on plants sold as Tropica which are not supplied in:

1) Decent condition (as I have received from other online suppliers)
2) In a Tropica pot with relevant label

Vaguely curious what Tropica would say about this, it isn't exactly a good thing for their name.

Can someone post a pic of a tropica pot and label, or describe them? I have a feeling that my local Pets at Home sells tropica plants (seem to be sold as tropica, but doesn't make clear its the company tropica). They aren't the best condition though (crappy storage/lighting) but sell 3 for £9. The labels certainly have similar illustrations to the ones on the tropica website.

The plant I have received is very poor. Clearly NOT tropica. It was a tiny clump of HC and was full of snails.

Not impressed at all

Pets@Home do sell Tropica plants, though many suggest it is only worth buying them on the day or so after they come in, as the holding tanks in said company are not suited to the long term health of the plants.

The Tropica plants I have had from AquaEssentials have been in superb condition, in a black pot (with a Tropica logo on the base) and a white plastic triangular tab with a plant picture and some care instructions (light level, growth rate etc).

Ah, sounds like I have been buying tropica plants then :) I need to find out when they get deliveries now... I won't be able to stop myself ;)

Called P@H yesterday and asked when they get plant deliveries but they said they order on an adhoc basis. They'd had a delivery on Tuesday so I thought I'd pop in and see what they had.

The plants weren't too dog-eared so I bought 3 (for £9). I got 2 Java fern 'narrow' (I'd read about these last week and thought they'd look cool in my new tank, bonus that they had some) and an Anubias 'nana'. The Anubias was in pretty good condition also.

They had quite a few other plants but they were all in pretty bad condition. There was a Cardamin Lyrata, which is another plant I will buy eventually, but this was pretty bad, and very stalky.

Anyhow, got the plants home and tied the Anubias to some wood. I found a record number of snails, probably about 9 or 10! I've kept them, as I figure if the goldfish doesn't eat them, they'll perhaps eat some of the algae ;)
