can anybody recomend this filter? i need a new filter as my jewel built in filter is nakered and i need a new one but want a good one.

I like them, use them all the time and i clean it about once a month and it's easy to clean.

I have a couple running, one for the quarantine tank and not had any problems with them. I picked them up since they were a good price and been reliable for it too.

if the fluval 2+ is suitable for your tank size then go for it, i prefer these to the new U range of filters :)

I think they're great filters but a bit of a faff to clean out to be honest... I've always found that you had to remove the entire filter, dripping water all over the place as you do. Put it into a bucket and remove the filter cartridge bit once it's in a bucket. Mine have always needed two hands to remove it (cause it's a bit stiff), and if you do it in the tank then it just spits rubbish all into the tank.

Like I said, great as an actual filter, and the clogging indicator is pretty good. But really, think about the new U series if you can stretch to the additional costs! :)

Good reliable filters. Work's old + filter was on the Live Rock Curing vats for about 6 years, being more or less constantly ran dry. 7 years on, it's still going with all original parts in a plants display tank... :good:
