any free snails?

im a beguinner and i was wondering where could i get some bog standard pond snails for my fish tank? i dont trust my pet shop and i have to travel 1 hr for the nearest good lfs so is there anywhere i can get them free or cheap???

AND they were all 'at it' while i was collecting them too - so breeding them is not going to be a problem
