Hello, the lady that had our tank before us did diddly squat in the way of maintenance, i presume she used tap water to top the tank up and never cleaned the substrate or anything, she had no water treatment chemicals or anything when we got the tank... anyway, since having the tank, i have done everything i know to make the tank a better environment for the fist, bought more fish, a vacuum, real plants, done 20-30% water changes every other week (now weekly!) and obviously bought chemicals to treat the water before changing it (except for the 50+% change that it took to move the tank! that was tap water and thank the lord the fishies survived! lol) I bought and have been using a Dechlorinator and "weekly cleaner" from wilko's (own brand) and i just wanted to know, if the directions say "1 capful per 38litres" do they mean that if you have 38 litres in the tank you need 1 capful of the stuff or does it mean you need to measure it out per exactly how much tap water you are going to put back in the tank? I should have asked this ages ago. i've been doing it for the ammount of water in the tank so far and as yet the fishies are all a-ok thank gawd lol!

either way goes, if you put a water in a bucket first then you add the amount of dechlor that is needed for the amount you are adding, if you are putting the tap water straight into the tank, then you treat for the whole tank itself :good:
