im gonna try kill as many issues in one go as i can so please bare with me...

1) I did my usual water change (20%) today and noticed the filter's flow was reduced so i cleaned the sponges etc in old tank water. once i had put it back together it wasnt working so i took it apart and cleaned inside the casing and i am just wondering if i cleaned too deeply and will effect the bacteria colony..

2) I noticed a white spot on my one platies mouth, it looks just like a spot , its not swollen and doesnt look like anything is on the skin (pics added)

Please reassure me that it is nothing to worry about.... (fearing the worst)...

cleaning inside thec asing wouldnt have affected the bacteria, they're all on the sponges, and as long as you cleaned them 'normally', you shouldnt have a problem. what sort of filter is it ? my juwel pump will occasionally stop after ive been fiddling with the filter, last time i took the pump out and removed the impeller and cleaned all the gunk out from round it.

the fish, im not sure. could just be where its knocked its mouth on something, rubbing against glass or something. a couple of my cories had white patches on their noses when i brought them, int he fish shop they were constantly swimming against the glass. seems to have healed since being in my tank.

You should watch the fish to make sure it's not mouth fungus. Probably someone in the emergencies section could help you with that. Impellers should be cleaned with each filter cleaning - you must be very careful not to break any of their parts. WD
