Hi well after a brief exploration into the salty side Im back! FW is where its at :)

So after some juggling my tank is now a Roma 240 (65gallon) with a fluval FX5.
Stock at present is.
1 Female Nic
3 Annostomus Ternetzi
2 L135
1 L124

I want to add some angels to the tank going to try and get some jet black ones but how many should I go with? I was thinking 2 or 3? Ive seen them mixed with nics by other members here with success but I know they can go phsyco very quick so will keep an eye on it.

Also some of my favorite fish are laetacaras. Both the dorsiger, curviceps and sp.Buckelkopf. Just wondering what people think aboutkeeping them with nics? I think that they will be okay with angles as I have heard of it working well in the past but not sure how a nic would accept a dwarf? Has anyone kept nics with things like rams or apistos in the past? Might help to think about how successful it could be?

Black angels, from what I have read are suppose to be more aggressive than the other sorts, dont know why, I have stripy and marble angels, they seem to be rather nice, but not tried them with nics, cant now sold the nics lol. The others I can help you with.

Oh really? I knew the blacks where meant to carry the death gene which means their fry are often weak and dont grow up which dsnt bother me that much. Seen some natural coloured ones so might go for them after the weekend see how it goes. What do your reckon for angel numbers in my tank? Ill see how the angels are before I think about the laetacaras just a few adults around in my LFSs at the moment I think its because when they are stressed in shops they are just grey egg shaped fish but once I get them home some will go dark red and the others blue and gold so lets see :)

My experience with angels is the more the better helps disperse any squabbles (but will most likely get shot for saying that lol) although I did have one bully a gold angel but since he has gone all mine are rather peacefull. I have some "morse code" angels I call them marble zebra cross they look like and there stripes are all broken into dots and dashes hence the morse code lol

Yeah I kind of want to do a big group of like 4 or 5 but dont think the tank is big enough for that but I think maybe a trio might work?

Want to get 3 of the same type so they look good together in the tank, hoping for a group relationship rather than a pairing but if the pair happens I know to rehome the "spare" one. One thing I want to avoid is pearlscale angels I much prefer the natural ones, I had a pearlscale before and as much as I loved him I didnt like the skin texture

I had some laetacara flavilabris (wild caught) with a female Nic for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever. Though they are classed as dwarf acara they were much bigger than my curviceps I currently have and probably wouldnt risk them with a large Nic.

Cool thanks for that. I want to stick with the smaller ones but if the nic is the issue I would rather not risk them. My nic is about 2 and a half inches at the moment but growing at an insane rate! Do you think if I add them while she is still small it will work or will it just be a matter of time?

Not really sure to be honest, will depend on the temprement of the Nic but could work if there are enough spaces for the curviceps to hide out. Be ready with a backup plan if it goes off!
