Just thought I'd put this out there as a point of interest and amusement as it's happened twice in a row now. It's a joy to watch....

So my angelfish are a bit odd. They eat moss and feast on the algae wafers I put in for the cory's. Not sure if the cory's are impressed with this.... I break them up into smaller pieces to try and share them out and two of the angels have started volleying them between each other. One picks a piece up and nibbles as it rises from the substrate. The other rises with it, facing opposite and the one eating spits it out directly to the other. The other then nibbles and spits it back. I'd say it was pure chance, but they did this 5 or 6 times each and then again when it dropped. And then again.... They're not a couple, in fact they bicker quite a lot on a small scale...

Just gotta love it!!

Awwww hehehe! That is really cute. Maybe one day you can get it on camera? My rummynose tetras do the same thing with shrimp pellets that I put out for my cories and khuli loaches.
Are the wafers just an occasional thing or is that your cories main diet? I ask as they need protein so shrimp pellets would be better for them but some veg is good for them too.

Lol

Sounds cool to watch!

Get a short vid of this if you can

@Ninjouzata
I feed flakes as a staple and a mix of bloodworm, daphnia, beefheart with spinach and red plankton twice a week. Two wafers go in twice a week. It sounds like a lot, but the amounts are appropriate.

@Both. Mission accepted. I bet they don't do it in front of the camera. Never work with children, animals..... and fish...

Good luck! :lol:

And okie, I was just double-checking! I figured you already knew what they need and sounds like they are well taken care of :)

Fun story, but thought I'd point out that Corydoras are meat eating fish, feeding them a vegetarian diet of algae wafers will cause health issues eventually! Something like New Era's "Tropical Pellets" (which are a lot more cost effective in 1.8Kg tubs) would be good for them and other tank inhabitants, but may not recreate underwater volleyball moments. ;)

Thanks for the input, but maybe you missunderstood. They don't just eat the wafers, they also tuck into the meat (see above) that goes into the tank, and the flakes. I tried shrimp pellets for the cory's, but suprise suprise my angels just devoured them before the cory's got chance. The cory's get their share of the wafers, which are balanced with the other food items. As things stand everyone seems to be getting their share :)
