Angelfish Eggs

Anyone got any idea why my Gold Marble Angels lay eggs that don't go white in the first 24 to 48 hours but also don't get to the stage where the eyes show and little tails start to come out of the egg on the third day? My Angels then eat them at this stage. I'm stumped, I have another pair that are raising about 100 2 week old fry no problems from the same breeder. I'm going to lift the eggs next time they lay as this is about the 3rd time it's happened but I wondered if anyone has had a similar experience? I bought both pairs as proven breeders and I have no reason at all to think they aren't.

Took my angels 8 attempts before they got it right, ate them the same as you described,

Angels seem one of the worst species for eating eggs. Just pot luck. They may even eat the eggs after a successfully raised batch of fry.

They probably know better than you what's going on with the eggs. If they aren't developing properly then eating them to gain back lost energy is quite sensible really. I'd give them another few goes before worrying about it.

Are they in a tank by themselves?

Yes ukspeed they are in a 2ft tank, alone in a quiet area, where they can't see any other fish or people passing.
