I have just rescaped my tank, and I used florabase as part of the substrate. It is known to leach ammonia, but I don't know at what level, I don't know if my filter can handle it or not. The fella in the shop gave me a bottle of ammo lock for free when I bought the florabase, and i'm unsure wether to use it or not. What do you guys think? I should add there is a handful of fish in there.

I'd test regularly (say, morning and evening) and if you start registering any ammonia, I'd do daily water changes and add the ammo lock to the new water, repeating daily until the ammonia has read as 0 for a week, as if you were doing a mini cycle.

If it is known to leach Ammonia I wouldn't have bought in the first place. Sorry to be blunt but just my opinion.

the filter will catchup depending on how much it leeches resulting in a higher nitrate reading eventually. when I added soil as an experiment (without fish) it leeched ammonia tons but after a week the filter had caught up and I was left with a higher nitrate reading so just involved a few more water changes, plus the plants will eat it as well

. If your Ph is bellow 7 ammonia is turned into 400x less harmfull ammonium as it may be nothing to worry about if results are low just check readings and do waterchanges or ammolock if you feel necessary. ( only works for 24hrs I think anyway)
