I am on my first aquarium, everything was going well, doing it all by the book. I have around 15 fish in my 90L tank and increasing.

I bought 2 Dwarf Gourami's last week. Within a day one was dead. I went back to P@H who tested my water and kindly replaced the fish saying it must have been ill. 2 days later, my very first (and favourite) fish, my Dalmatian molly was dead! When i was taking her out, i then noticed one of my new Clown Plecs was also dead (we never see them, so it was 'luck' to find it). So i went storming down to P@H again and they tested the water which was perfect again. They admitted fault as their tank was now closed off and was being treated. They gave me a bacterial medicine and also a gift voucher.....not that i like putting a value on my fish!

But by the time i got home, one of the Danios is missing, and i am yet to see the other clown Plec despite having looking every time i walk past. She may be hiding though.

Today we add the second dose of medicine, but the fish are still acting strange. I am really scared they are all going to die.

my questions are 1) What can i do other than treat the water?
2) I cannot find one of the Danios or the clown plec, i can only assume they are dead. If so, how bad is it if i cannot find them?! Will their rotting bodies screw up the water all the more? Where on earth can they be?!
3) Any advise at all?! Other than not to get fish from P@H again? Thats twice they have given me diseased fish in a few months!

Try removing the decor to find the missing fish. You may find they are still alive, dead bodies need to be removed as rotting fish add ammonia to the tank and mess your water up! //the clown plec may have partly dug itself into the gravel, mine does so look carefully! What are the other fish in the tank?

you need to set up a quarantine tank so you can
put the next fish you get from them in for a few week before
they go in to your main tank that way if they get ill or die
they are not in your main tank and the infection doesn't get spread

Thanks for your replys.

I HAD
2 mollys
2 Guppys
3 Danios
3 Glowlight Tetras
2 Corrys
2 Clown plecs
2 Dwarf Gourami

One molly has died, one Gourami (although it has been replaced), one clown plec and possibly one Danio as they all stick together but not seen them in a while :(

I will take out the decor, but i do not want to stress the fish out any more - will they be ok with this?!

Ideally yes, i would quarantine the fish, but due to space and money, i cannot have a second tank. I guess this is the downside of that :( Here's hoping that all the rest recover as they are looking very sad at the moment!

The fish will be fine, have a look for bodies, then afterwards you can turn the lights out after to reduce stress.

I went and cleared everything out of the tank. It looked so empty! I saw a skeleton of the Catfish which i took out, but there was nothing to it! I think i found the Danio but it was so decomposed it just disintegrated. I took this as an opportunity to do a larger water change and then rebuild the tank.

I have kept the lights out, and all the fish seem a lot more active already which is great! Hopefully that is all of the disease gone now, but just to make sure, i put in another dose of the medicine.

I went down to P@H who gave me gift vouchers which will replace the cost and effort due to the disease killing my fish. I spoke with the manager who told me they only give the fish 2 hours to settle after transport before they are put on sale! I told him this was silly and its costing the company loads of money when they need to fork out for killing all my fish, when like the other pet shops, they could quarantine their fish for a few days to make sure they are healthy! He agreed and told me its just what Head Office want.

Seems like a crazy policy to me, and i will not be buying fish from there again. However, i will praise them for their Customer Service! Spot on! I will use the vouchers there for all my other pets though hehe

Thanks for your help :)
