Fish Fanatic
I had to move my tank into the garage for about 3 months while I got the floorboards reinforced (the joists were sagging under the weight - 380l)
Anyway whilst in the garage I had absolutely no algae not a trace. I did nothing differently from when in the house. While in the house however i was getting green hairy algae on the glass, driftwood, plants you name it it got a little hair on it.
So the lesson ive learnt is.....
KEEP THE CURTAINS SHUT!
Me and my wife work 9-5 and it makes a real difference if there is no natural light in early morning and during the day, note that the tank was never in direct sunlight.
Anyway thought Id share this with you it seems to me that any sunlight, direct or inderect is asking for algae...
