Algae Problems

i have a pretty severe algae problem it only grows on the glass. i clean it every day. it grows back over night. i use algae destroyer advanced. heeeelp.

Couldn't you get a couple plecos? i have 3 candy striped plecos in one tank + i never have to clean the glass best part is they only grow to 10cm

i have 1 plecostomus hypostomus and he cleans the glass but not often.

Whats your lightingg and how long are they on for? do you dose the tank with anything else?

is it a brown coloured algae?

if so its diatoms. clean it off and do a water change to remove the spores from the tank, then try feeding less as diatoms is caused by slight ammonia levels

i do 10 % water changes every two days and i feed live mosquito larvae and earthworms. everything else is maybe fish flakes when i run out of the other two which are abundant this time of year.

Do you have plants? What is the power of the lights?

I got a load of hair algae by having plants and too much light without dosing CO2. Blacked out one of the lights and it went away in a few days.

Ammonia is the other common cause of algae

the lights are 48 inches long. it is near a window. yes i have live plants. my ammonia levels was a little high last i last night but it is fine this morning.
