Air Pumps/air Wands

I have an air pump in my 3 gallon tank with goldfish but none in my ten gallon tank, some fish need high dissolved oxyge levels but i dont think that all tanks need an air pump

Depends on your filtration system, a pressurized canister type filter doesn't create much oxygen unless you have a spray bar attached to the outtake, or anything that will break the surface of the water and create bubbles, wet dry filters create lots of oxygen. Plants work too, but plants don't thrive so well with a wet/dry system because there can be too much oxygen present. Most filters create enough oxygen by themselves.

how big is your tank if it is
5 gal rena 50
10 gal rena 100
up to 20 gal 200

IMO plants always benifit from extra oxygen and corys and livebearers love playing in the bubble stream

Not meaning to hijack the purpose of this thread, but you do realise that 3 gallons is nowhere near adequate for even a single goldfish?

Um... Might want to check your facts there.
