Try to follow me here...

You know how an air powered filter works right? Would it be possible to have a really long flexible lift tube thats narrow around enough for the air bubbles entering at the bottom to lift water up and out of the tube into another container? It could save tonnes of money and time if you need to empty your tank or something....

could work.

Or just put a hose in the tank suck on the other end to get the water flowing downwards into a container.

This setup would be for if you can't use a regular syphon and have to transfer water from the same level or to a container higher.

I doubt you could generate enough lift to pull the water up to a high degree.

If you need to get the water out to a higher level just use a pump. It's what I use for all my waterchanges. Otherwise the 150 would take ages to drain 40% of.

I do not think it would work very well. I suppose that with some experimentation, it might work though.
