Adding Water With Out Conditioner

If you added about a pint of water with out the conditioner to a tank, would it make much differnce, if any at all?

I changed my water in my tank and I was just a touch short from the old water mark (#40## OCD ) if I was to get a pint more water at the right temp, but with out any tap water conditioner added to it, would it make any differnce to the tank?

As it's 10mL per 38Ltr, i'm only adding a pint

I can't see that a pint would make any difference at all. Am sure there is a bit of a safety margin built in when they advise how much tap safe per litre/gallon. Obviously the bigger the tank the more water to dilute it down too.

As long as the tank is big enough then there is no problem i.e. if you're adding 1pt to a 100 litre tank then its only a drop in the ocean - the chlorine will be so diluted that it will have no effect. Pour it in at the filter outlet to assist in the dilution if worried.

(if the tank is less than 10 litres in size then add it slowly over half an hour or so.))

Well I shuck the water conditioner bottle, and flicked it a couple of drops from what was in the lid of it

I added half the pint, then the other half 15min later... can't see it causing any problems myself, hopfuly!

If you need to add more water without conditioner just let it stand over night, the chlorine will evaporate off before the morning (assuming no chloramines exist 'cause I think that's a different story...)

i do 10% a week and dont use water safe never use water that has been heated by central heating system watersafe removes chloride but not heavy metal which are produced by heating water and are much more harmfull then chloride .

It'll be fine, I don't use dechlorinator anymore, It's an optional extra IMO, I do 30% cold water changes, no negative effects.

Watersafe, and most other conditioners, DO remove heavy metals (oddly, it says so on the bottle). so there is no worries as to using household hot/cold water.
unfortunately/fortunately, the heating does not "Produce" heavy metals. (if only it were that simple we would all be rich).

well if it is not heavy metal what causes white cloudy water when water is heated in a copper pressurised cylinder ? im no chemist but did add this water to a tank and 4 silver sharks died within 1hr of adding it there must of been some thing in the water and that was with a water safe treatment in it . i only speak from my experience and have found doing 10% water changes with cold tap water has had no adverse effect on my tank by doing only 10% at a time there is no major temperture change so the fish dont go into tempreture shock , i would say if i do a larger % change i leave the tap water 24 hrs and do heat it with a spare tank heater.
