Hi
Just popped in to ask a question..
Basically all I have at the moment in my cycled tank are 3 Blue Gouramis and 2 bottom feeding Plecos.
My tank is fairly small- around 70 litres but would like to add a school of several small fish to offset the Gouramis.

Any suggestions on which I could add that would successfully get on with the larger Gouramis?

Wonder if 5-6 Danios would do the job?
Have also been advised on Tiger Barbs and Neon Tetras.

Cheers
Pete

The Tiger Barbs will prob nip the Gouramis, the gouramis will get too big for your tank and some plecos will get huge. Neon Tetras would be ideal

second that, go for tetra rather than tiger barbs :good:

Thirded! Tiger barbs are lovely, but they're quite chunky for their size and are quite rough, I wouldn't put Tigers in a tank with Gouramis. Tetras would be a much better bet.

I'd give a recommendation for Green Neons if you can get them; the normal Neons have been inbred for a while now and aren't as hardy as they used to be :(
Or you could choose one of the Rasbora species; lovely fish; small and very peaceful.

I wouldn't kep tiger barbs long term in your tank, as they get quite chunky and are very active.

Neons would be best of the options you stated, but your tank has to be 100% cycled and mature with no ammonia or nitrite. I wouldn't add neons until the tank is at least 3 months post-cycle completion. How about looking into black neons, harlequin rasboras, cherry barbs, glowlight tetra or cardinal tetra?

Blue gouramis will outgrow the tank and for three you are looking at a 150+ litre tank. The plecs will also probably outgrow it - do you know what species/type they are?

tiger barbs would probably be okay, but you would need 6 and nothing else in your tank. neons are ideal.
