I have 6 male guppies in a 10 gallon tank right now. I want to upgrade to a 50 gallon and give them 2 females each. Live plants will eventually come but probably won't be there at start up, so I will do a fishless cycle. My question is....do I put my male guppies in the 50 gallon once it's cycled and ready...or should I get the females in there first to prevent less stress? If I put the males in first, I'd use the 10 gallon as a quarantine, but could only do probably no more than 6 at a time. I wouldn't want them getting stressed out by the males until more females could join...or is that the best way?
Also, with the 6 male and 12 female guppies, can I put 6 zebra danios, 6 bandit cories(hopefully), and a bristlenose pleco together with them? I will also be doing sand substrate because I know that's good for the cories.
And another question, once my 10 gallon is empty of guppies(it also has two horned nerite snails that I will keep in there), can I do a school of glowlight tetras? I know I can, and should, do at least six, could I do more than that? Or is it ok to do 6 glowlight tetras and 6 neon tetras? I have an Aquaclear 20 on this filter. I'd love to be able to do the 2 types in the 10 gallon but if it wouldn't be recommended I won't.
Thanks for all the help guys!
