A Year On...

Well, its around this time last year that i started keeping fish- starting off with a baby biorb 15litres with 4 wcmm, 4 goldfish and a common coldwater plec, after making many mistakes and learning a hell of alot off you guys i feel confident in my fishkeeping ability, my fish aren't dying anymore

A big-up to all on the forum who have helped me in the past and no doubt will continue to do so in the future

My aunt is still stuck with a 30 litre tank, tiny filter, 4 goldfish, and 6 WCMM, ignorance is bliss.

I have also learnt a lot from the forum over the past almost 2 years, I started with a biord too (30L) and had guppies in it. Great tanks, expensive though.

im with you duck n dive, i actually like biorbs, i had 3 in dundee, they just sooo hard to get right i think i have a baby biorb now, my little girl has her pink betta in there, just right for him

Yeah they are a complete bummer to get to look nice as live plants struggle with that substrate media.

The filter cartriges are a con, I just buy a bag of carbon for £3 and replace the carbon in the biorb cartridge with that. For the sponge I buy a whole sheet of filter sponge 30-30cm for £3 and cut It to size thats £6 and will last you a year, whereas with the biorb cartriges you spend £6 every few weeks! Costing you around £60 a year (on the packet they recommened you change it every 2-3 weeks.

even though i have a biorb, and this may sound a little stupid, but i dont like them, the fish are distorted- the filter is poor, the lighting is unsuitable for live plants and it isnt the right shape for keeping fish imo, as of now i only have some tiger shrimps in, which in away was a bad decision being as though the adults like under my gravel (i have added a different type, larger stones) but i am pleased to say they have bred, and now i have 1 little larve-esque thing swimming around.
I may give my biorb another chance with a betta, but im not sure i can find a heater small enough and would probably run another filter for it-taking valuable space away.

Thats why I sold mine a week ago!
