
They're found from 6.0 to 8.0 (ish) in the wild, but only up to 8.0 because of brackish water, not because of hard freshwater. It is easiest to treat them as other South American blackwater fish for the purpose of keeping them as they will breed much better in soft water, but will grow well in a range of water types.With keyholes, i thought they were PH 7 to 8, so having lower end of 6 wouldnt be much useBut if you have experience of them in low PH, then i guess they are back to being an option! White fish on my black background will look good i think!
