A Step In The Right Direction!

Today I was hanging out with a friend, and she asked me why her Betta's fin might be ripped.  I know that she keeps her Betta in a vase, so I said "Normally that happens when they're sick!"  
She gave me a surprised looked and asked "why do they get sick?!"  
To which I cleverly responded "sometimes it's because they're in a tank that's too small! This (pointing to my 6.6 gallon) is normally considered minimum!"
She gasped, and immediately texted her Mom saying that she needs to get a bigger tank for her Betta.
 
This Betta is anywhere from 5-8 years old, hopefully there'll be a happy ending for this old fish, and a new beginning in fish keeping for my friend!

That is awesome that you were able to spread some betta knowledge and be an advocate to them.  Even better that your friend responded the way she did.  Most people will just refuse to accept that kind of info especially when their betta has been "fine" for the length of time they have had them.  Hopefully your friend will be able to get a better setup for her betta soon.
