I have a bunch of snails in my various tanks, I picked up a few Yoyo's the other week and got a few more smaller ones today and some clowns. I know these guys like to snack on snails so I was wondering, how easy and what would I need to setup a snail farm in a 10 gallon I have? I want to have a steady supply of snails to feed them from time to time and I've only seen eggs once before. I have no idea what kind of snail they are, I'll upload pics when my current tank is done filling up from my WC ( a few mins )

Edit: I looked around and I guess they're just called Pond Snails

I'm no expert but from my knowledge snails change genders. If you we're to breed them you can't really tell the diff. Between. Male and a female snail. IMO I'd just buy a whole bunch and put them in the tank.

You cant just buy em though, they hijack their way on plants. I could try finding what I can and throwing them all in a tank and seeing what happens

Buy a couple of plants and overfeed the fish food. There are plenty of "How Do I Get Rid Of Pest Snails" threads on the forum. Thinking about it, isn't there one pinned somewhere? Just do the exact reverse of the advice on there.

Somehow, a couple got into my daphnia breeding tank and they are thriving on yeast! I didn't know this was possible. Technically it's not an aquarium, just a tank full of yeast.
I'm not suggesting this is the best way, just saying they are very resiliant and easy to feed etc.

And seemingly the more you feed them, the more you will get. I had some issues with snails early on, but adding my BN pleco fixed the problem. He beat them to algae, and I think ate either their eggs, or the small snails, and they have never been a problem since. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw a snail in my tank.

Live plants, sold as "Snail free" just means you won't be charged for the snails. :-D Buy some plants and bash them into the 10 gallon tank... feed the tank as if it had fish in it and wait a week. You'll see the snails. If you want more snails, just feed it more. Of course, buy the cheapest food you can find since the snails won't mind.

If you have a a Petsmart anywhere near by, just go in and ask for some snails and they are usually more than happy to pick some out for you! I started my farm by having my LFS bag up it's unwanted Ramshorns, then just putting them in a 10 gallon tub with some java moss and a filter. Overfeeding also helps, you just have to keep up on your water quality. I gave them lots of algae wafers and zucchini, and pretty soon I had so many snails I had to start giving them away! .-.
They really are very easy to breed. My loaches love the Ramshorns, and they are a bit prettier than pond snails if you can find some

All I can see around here are apple snails for sale, and pond snails that come with the plants. Also the odd assassin snail

You don't want pond snails, they eat plants.

I think what I have are pond, they dont get very big but my plants are fine. The tank I would be "farming" the snails in wont have plants, or real ones at least

If your snail farm has a light then algea will grow on any fake plants and the snails will happily chow down on that, as well as any other morsal of food.

of topic but could u pus some pics up of your clowns pls

They are only an inch long, you can see a few of them towards the end of this video I just did
