you could get about 30-40 and breed them instead of buying loads

the only problem with a large shoal of shoaling fish like tetras or rasboras is that after a few weeks and theyve settled in, they dont shoal any more and it doesnt look nearly as effective

i think micro rasboras are just too small and it would look verging on stupid. go for something like cardinal tetras or harlequins if you prefer. also check out:

pentazona barbs

i think having a shoal of ten or so rainbowfish as well would look great too. also a large shoal of corydoras.

Harlequins and Cardinals are common imo, If he wanted something special Id go with something alot rarer. If you want some of those fish id get a 20 gallon and use the 6x2x2 for something interesting...

A buddy of mine, who does mostly cats, got in a box of 1,000 small neons, put them in a 150 gallon tank. He needed one more box to fill in an import order. They would still shoal, it was a really cool thing to watch.

Best part was when he pulled out this 20,000 candlepower spotlight, and lit the tank. Ever changing colors, depending on what the fish were doing. Top lights are nothing with neons, when you light them from the side the colors really pop.

I think you should go with the rummy nose tetra. A huge shoal of them would look very stunning in your tank once its fully planted. Think of them weaving in and out of the plants, darting around as a group, I can almost picture it. You'll have to help by posting some pics once you decide.

ive got 16 rummy nose tetras. that look amazing in the tank, if 1 moves they all move, and it looks fab.

shelagh x

I would go for glowlight tetras. In the planted tank forum there was John Starkey who had 180 cardinals in his tank.
lots of ideas :D but can you point me in the direction of a picture of this id be very curious to see, give me inspiration

i dont really have any shortage of choices for this tank do i!

if you get them from a lfs, they'll probably be a species which can be kept in freshwater. :good: the ones that don't tolerate freshwater are hardly ever seen.
