A few random pictures from the past week or so

What an interesting bunch of species. I bet this combo offers an endless amount of fascination. How many Anostomus ternetzi and Hemiodus gracilis do you have? And is that a Laetacara species at the top? L. fulvipinnis? Really nice, all of 'em.

I have around 25 of h. gracilis and 20 a. ternetzi; the h. gracilis are a bit fragile and the a. ternetzi are quite durable. I have a small group of fishes sold as l. thayeri. I believe the lack of tail spot makes these thayeri. The gracilis have been pretty solid since they have become established but it is hard to introduce them or new members also the panic easily.

Just a couple - my largest male - bit of a bully; the auto light adjustment kind of washed the picture out - he is a bit darker with more intense red.

One of the mysteries for me is they clamp their tails when in breeding dress. The m. mirificus don't seem to do that.
Awesome fish dude.
That female with eggs, to me the clamped caudal fins and the spot, looks like a second head and eye. Perhaps to confuse predators or something that would predate on eggs and fry?

So i've had them for 16 to 18 months and i guess they were around 6 to 8 months old when received - haven't seen any pairing or hint of breeding not that i'm looking forward to such given that the me's constantly breed and create enough 'excitement' or stress depending on ones attitude towards their aggression.
