A Few Questions

I bought some snails for my small tank today. Doing a good job cleaning algae. However I notice they leave a lump of slime/sand mixture in a few places. Are they not compatible with sand? If not, will they be ok in the big tank? My concern is the loaches, which are snail eaters. Obviously the apple snails are too big to fit into their mouth, but still worry about them nibbling on the flesh.

I think I may have to move my barbs from the small tank to the big tank at some point as I got the wrong info and they will grow up to 8cm each. Or do you think they will be ok in my small tank? I was hoping to get a school of small barb/rasbora for the large tank to complete it. Keeping it Asian (except the corys and pleco, and snails, and plants) so any suggestions welcomed. My nitrate is zero 2 weeks after water change and with my excellent hood filter I don't think filtration would be a problem.

The apple snails will be fine with the sand. Don't put them with the zebra loach; I'm sure the loach will nibble at them (probably take their feelers off for a start ).

I'd use the Odessa barbs as your shoal in the bigger tank; they will grow too big for your smaller tank.

Thanks. I thought so too. I'll move all the barbs when my tank have settled a bit more after adding the gouramis and zebra loaches last week.

Do you think I can have 20 halequin rasbora in my small tank? Or 10 pentazona barbs and 10 cherry barbs? Maybe danios? Again well planted so nitrate shouldn't be a problem. More concern about room really.
