I am new to CO2. I have a 360L tank, an external filer with a rated filtration rate of 1200L/h and a power head rated at 4000L/h.
I had a normal CO2 diffuser, but that just was not getting the CO2 round my tank....i could see that! So i got a reactor which diffuses the CO2 into my outlet from the filter. I then lengthened my spray bar so its now about 3/4 the length of my tank. This obviously reduced the pressure coming out my spray bar.
I did all this step by step, following suggestions. But i was STILL not sure if the CO2 was getting round my whole tank or not as i was no doubting the effectiveness of my reduced force output from the filter.
So, i tried moving my drop checker around the tank....but as this takes a day at a time, and each day i was tweeking my CO2....it was just not good enough!
SO! Ebay! I bought 3 new drop checkers at a total cost of about £23 and they came with the solution too (just the blue, not the 4dk stuff). Clearly they are not as good as my main drop checker which cost about £25 on its own. They have smaller bubbles to hold the fluid in, but its just a piece of glass with the same solution inside, so no need to go crazy on cost!
I am not keeping them in for good, obviously, but i have dotted them about my aquarium just now, and at a glance, i can see that my CO2 IS making it around to just about all parts of my aquarium
£23 well spent IMO! I have identified one dull spot, just under my powerhead...which makes sense as its currently driving the CO2 filled water away from that corner.
