8 Inch Green Terror And 12 Inch Oscar

I have to try and contain my excitement, i may explode. Updates on that lil fella have been L-O-N-G awaited haha. I honestly hope one day i buy a fish off you so i can come see him! I nearly made it, i've been as far as Chris' (Walkers101) house the other day to drop off my Geos and Pictus which he took off me.

 you passed right by then as i live 10 mins from the M69/A5 junction.....

the EBJD has become quite out going and isnt as scared of me now and always the first out to the food well before the ornatums.

Ah shucks haha. Didnt realise you were that close (note to self).

Glad he's getting braver, it wouldnt shock me if Ornatums out competed him gfor food. A confident Jack is always better than a shy one, as is with any fish. Eating well, and hopefully packing on the pounds also. Albeit in the usual Jack slow(ish) manner.

I won't hype up too much in the hope of a decent pic of him, i'll wait patiently if he isnt ready for photo-shoot time  I'm more intrigued to see how a Jeff Rapps Jack grows up. Not just his Jacks, but some of his breeding fish arent the 'most' stunning fish i've ever seen. Certainly going by his website anyway.

I've had some issues with shyness in my Jacks recently. Bad enough to warrant mentioning in my journal, it was bugging me. However, i realised tonight why they are shy. I'd unplugged the heater the other day during a big water change, forgot to plug it back in didnt i. So for the last 4-5 days they've been in a cold(ish) tank and were just hiding away shivering bless them. Dodged a bullet with that one in not losing anything.

Back to the GT, i really hope this works out for you. An Oscar the size of Keith, and a GT his size will look spectacular. You know territory won't be an issue in that size tank, which is good. Fingers crossed for you as i already said :)

Fingers crossed for you, it would be something to behold if it worked out

Hi,

I recently got a Male GT he doesnt look as big as the one you are getting. I bought him from someone who had kept him by himself in his own tanks as he wouldnt let anyone in his tank, so when i bought him and took him home i didnt know what to expect.

So i put him in with my three Oscars two around 11 inchs and one around 8 inchs and he beat them all up head butt them bit their lips etc etc and my Oscars looked so paranoid and scared so i had to remove the GT.

I was fearing the worst and thinking i would have to rehome him again as i couldnt really have a whole tank set up for just one fish, so i put him in his own tank by himself for a few weeks then mixed him with a few smaller fish to try and teach him to socialise.

Then a few weeks on i mixed them all together in a new tank and they are all fine now if anything my Bigger Albino now seems to be the dominant one, so i really happy as it means i can keep him he just needed some training lol.

Anyway sorry to go on but thats how mine worked, its one of those things that you dont know whats going to happen until you try. I would just say keep an eye on them but also maybe have a spare tank ready just incase.

He looks like i really nice Terror though.

Good Luck.

Thanks Darren.

Really looking forward to hearing about this and hoping it works out.

you never can tell with GT'S some are fairly placid and some are mean ,there is only one way to find out, i would go for it if it was me, nice looking fish by the way :)

the green terror is currently getting use to his new home. fingers crossed it doesnt turn out to be a disaster

i shouldnt really say this as i will probably jinx things but, green terror? more like yellow belly  every time Keith goes near him he hides away in the corner..... sticks his head out then Keith comes back and he goes back

i know he has only been in the tank for a few hours so im taking this reaction to Keith lightly. lets hope yellow belly decides to say hello tomorrow

my daughter has named yellow belly "sammy" by the way after watching that new kids turtle film

Good early signs, still got my fingers crossed for you and the fish

thanks.

at least they havnt gone all out at each other which is a good sign. the GT is still very very new so it could all be a different story as soon as he builds up his confidence a bit..... Keith is a big softy really and i think he is happy to see another larger fish to be honest and just wants to say hello to Sammy.

Good early signs !! Lets hope it all continues in the same way.

I know you will keep us informed !

About a week ago I introduced my Rotkeil Severum into my Jack Dempsey tank. My Jack is very placid and gets along with pretty much everything i've ever added to his tank. Albeit i didnt bargain on the reaction i've got out of him, and his female. They swim around the tank as an inseparable three-some. Its odd.

I doubt your 'Sammy' and Keith will get on quite so swimmingly (pun not intended), but atleast you have promising early signs. Will things go bump in the night? Hopefully not :good:

so far so good :hyper:

Keith has gave a small chase now and then but he isnt a nasty oscar so nothing bad. Sammy is still very cautious of Keith but is eating and otherwise seems very happy.

i have a few very poor pics, my camera wont focus too well after my daughter dropped it
