380l Community Tank

The easter island head looks like it's growing hair!

I would move the big crypt from the front to the back, as it seems too obnoxious in the front.

Great progress, though! :good:

  yeah i'm gonna have to do something about that i think!! Also the crypt at the front has grown wayyyy to big! i thought they were a small plant! either gonna give it away or move it back, just a case of finding some where decent for it.

i might go with the java moss option, or at least in small areas. Possibly around the coconut shells (which already has it on) or something? will wait for it to grow a bit then have a fiddle around i think

Pic of tank a couple of days ago:

Should be getting one L134 and one L201 later today too, will upload some pics later :good:

Hi Ian, I thought i'd check out your journal since I hadn't in a while - tank looks gorgeous. Regarding what I posted before about a large piece of bogwood, do you ever go to City Aquatics or Aquatic World in Cardiff? They're both around Cathays, and sometimes have really impressive pieces. Glad to see Wales so well represented on this forum!

I have a few questions!!!

have you ever factored in the WEIGHT of your aquarium? Because im about to buy a similar sized aquarium but a friend of mine said that his office (with clay floor) couldn't even support a fully filled 100gal aquarium.

Where is your aquarium currently situated (home, office etc)? have you had any problems with the flooring?

sry for all the questions, hope you can answer them =)

I believe each gallon of water weighs just under 10 lbs (8 something.) Add that up with the gravel and weight of the tank and your looking at about 1000 lbs.

wow didnt expect anyone to find this, thought it had gotten lost in the millions of pages!!

Need to update with a few more pictures i think, will see if i can get some tomorrow.

As for weight the easiest way to work it out is 1 litre = 1kg, so it's 380kg plus the weight of the tank and stand (the tank empty weighs LOADS!)

And no, i didnt consider the weight of it   It's downstairs in my living room, which has a concrete (sp?) floor under the carpet. If it was floorboards then i would have thought twice about it!

Also million, no i havnt? never even heard of them! my two lfs are MA in Radyr and Big blue in caerphilly. I'll have to have a look at these two as its always good to find a new shop! in walking distance of the train or a drive down job?

And thanks for the compliments people :good:

Well there's one in the central market which had some massive pieces last time I was there, and that's within walking distance of the train station. The ones in Cathays aren't but there is a station in cathays that you can get to from cardiff central, or bus obviously

I'm going to sound UBER snobby now, but i don't do busses   hate the things, always full of idiots! would rather walk or get a taxi  Will have to pop down and have a look though :good:

Finally got round to ordering the bits for my co2 now! regulator, diffusers, air line is all on its way, just waiting for a reply on the fire extinguisher before i buy it :hyper:
