380l Community Tank

got myself 3 sword tails yesterday, 2 female and one male. Although how to you tell a female swordtail? just look like platties to me  I'm hoping i'm not going to be over run with baby swords since i have quite alot of hiding places but i think the fish should sort that out. Will get some pics up soon :good:

Also when do you consider a tank a planted tank?

Lovely tank, nice and big, and love the layout!

Gorgeous bristlenose plec - hope you find him a girlfriend soon!!

Laura

Thanks people :good: Sadly the fish have decided they dont like the layout and i now have a big bunch of plants floating at the top   Although my shrimp seem to love it up there!!

I think i'm just gonna buy a baby bnplec and hope its female, if it turns out male then my mother can have it for her tank since she wants one!

"Also when do you consider a tank a planted tank?"

When the plants are just as important as the fish. :good:

I know but the price!!

Plus i dont know what im looking for  tbh i dont mind paying the price if it makes the tank look even nicer

Is that a Ctenopoma Acutirostre in the background there? If so i dont think your Glowlight Tetra will last very long.

yep thats raj

he's only a baby for now so he ok, will be getting moved when he gets to big/hungry :good:

OK just done a test on my water results are:

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5
PH - 7.6 or above

I'm assuming the nitrAte is so low because of all the plants? hows the ph? no idea if thats good or bad

Gonna re-plant all the floating plants again in a bit and put a few more root tabs in, and im about to order some tropica plant nutrition :good:

Then next month maybe a co2 kit

Thats good! Yeah the plants will reduce the nitrate a bit. PH is fine depends on what ur putting in the tank but most fish are ok between 6-8.
Looks very good! Great fish by the way. :good:

Thanks mate i love it, much more than my old tank

As for Co2 kits hows this:

Red Sea CO2 Pro System

Although it's on ebay for about £20 less but no co2 bottle, although then again i don't know if this comes with one or not?

Ok got a couple more fish over the last week or so:

3 swordtails, 1 male and 2 females

8 black phantom tetras
