30 Galloon Tank Fish

Trying to plan out my new 30 gallon tank community. This is what I am thinking...


12 Tiger barbs - I think this would be a good size school for them?
3 Clown Loaches - I heard they also like to be in groups and will even swim with tiger barbs?
1 Red Tail Shark - I wanted this to be the main fish but i know they are pretty aggressive, but do you think they will be ok with tiger barbs and clown loaches?

Do you think this is enough fish for a 30 gallon tank, also do I need any algae eating fish?

Recommendations welcome, i kind of prefer fast/active semi aggressive fish

I think the tiger barbs maybe okay but the clown loaches and red tail shark will outgrow that tank as clown loaches can reach up to 16 inches.

Oh wow I thought the red tails only get like 4-6 inches? That live aquaria site sucks all their dimensions are totally wrong. Do you know a site that has accurate max growth dimensions?

i thought red tail's needed 250L+ i might be wrong. if your going to get algae eating fish, do you have live plants?
iv got 2 planted tank's i use oto's and amano shrimp's to keep my algae down

All the fish I want need huge tanks lol. Grrr time to find some other picks. So far just tiger barbs then. I won't have live plants just fake ones to start.

i can see where this is going... you need a bigger tank =D get a 100gal one, i want one for my birthday. of my parents but i doubt i'll get it


i use shrimp. but i don't know, more live plants less algae (just a point)

If your into your loach shaped fish there are a couple of species that will work with a big group of Tigers in that tank - Zebra Loaches and Dwarf Chain Loaches both are really cool and zippy always out and about and have that shark like profile that loaches have

A pair of cichlids of some kind could work nice, a group of Apistos or a pair of Kribensis. There are a lot of good dwarf cichlids for this sized tank so work a look around. For a profile site try seriouslyfish.com I think their write ups are the most reliable around. But I would always post up a stocking plan here to get peoples opinions as advice from people who have kept specific species is always better than a profile
