I am going to be setting up 2 1ft cubes as shrimp tanks. 1 will be home to Crystal Reds Shrimp, as they really do need to be in different water stats than they are currently in. The 2nd tank will be home to some Red cherries, which will be part of a breeding colony to specifically get some high quality reds for display. (any low quality will be culled out)

I'll be very shortly starting organizing to get these on the go, i'll try to take pics as i go. I will not be stocking them until the plants get a good hold

Sounds cool can't wait for some pics :)

Nice, do make note and let us know how you set up the crystal reds tank, am assuming you might be using ro water with tap water to bring down the ph and stats to make suitable for crystals.

But one little note, crystals are less hardy than RCS as you already know, meaning they may be better in a established tank rather than a newly set up tank, can get away with RCS in a new tank but crystals, not sure tbh.

But would surely be interesting to know as would like to do a little set up for crystals myself and a little bit of knowledge and any tips from you beforehand sure would be useful ;)

I am still planting the 1st cube.....time consuming job! This one will be the home of the CRS.....i will be using rainwater in this tank (currently has town water while i am setting it up)

I only have the 2 CRS left, they made it through the newly setup tank they are in now, hopefully they will do it with this tank also. I will eventually like around 10 - 15 in the tank, the amount of plants should help with settling in.

Still not finished...........planting the HM takes time, but eventually the entire sand area will be filled in. I think i have a dead heater also......grrrrrrr....so will need to buy a new one before anything can move in.

A progress shot anyway
