Hi everyone,
I currently have a cycled 29 gallon tank that has been running for two years. In the tank I have 4 cories,  a rubberlip pleco, 7 black phantom tetras, 2 platys, and 2 cherry barbs. I plan on moving the tetras, barbs, and platys into my 45 gallon and essentially getting a fresh start for my 29 other than the cories and rubberlip pleco. My problem is that I have no idea what I would put in the tank. I was thinking of a betta tank, but I didn't like that there was not much variation in the fish that can go with a male betta. I know that I would like a far bit of variation in the colour, I was thinking at least some blue and red, hopefully some other colours as well. I would also like some variation in size and shape of the fish if thats possible. I'm open to any suggestions as long as they are not too expensive.
Thanks for the help.
:)

Do you have hard or soft water? What kind of substrate do you have?

I have soft water. The gravel is this:

Top Fin® Premium Quality Aquarium Gravel
in black.

Hmm the gravel leaves out things like loaches or cories unfortunately.

Perhaps some peacock gudgeons for the bottom, cardinal tetras for the middle, and some honey gourami or hatchetfish for the top?

Not necessarily I have Kuhli Loaches on round pea sized gravel for almost 2 years and they are doing great,
