this is the official thread for the new 200g cube tank im building. the tank dimensions will be 48" long, 48" wide and 20" tall. the stand will be an extension on a 90g oak stand. made some progress on it today... i used 3/4" plywood, solid 2x8's, and a lot of bracing. the bracing isnt too evident from the pics but its there! the structure is complete, all thats left is the asthetics. i will add two cabinet doors on the sides, stain the wood to match the rest of the stand, and add the trim on top and bottom..

yeah, my name is lotsofgallons on there

Not to be a stickler but a cube would be 48 x 48 x 48 :p so actually you have a rectangular prism there...... hahaha

Looks awesome man, can't wait to see it finished as your other tanks are quiet astounding as well.

What kind of set-up you going for it? Like your 44G cube with an island of LR in the middle?

hah i know, i just thought cube sounded cooler then "rectangular prism"..its all about the coolness.

as for aquascaping, havent decided yet...i dont even have a clue, never had to deal with a footprint so big! ill just figure it out as i go.

I was just suggesting like your small cube with the big LR reef in the center and swimming space all around the edge as I've seen this before in a big "cube" like your building and it looks awesome, but i bet you can come up with something entirely better so get your brain spinning! I want my jaw to hit the keyboard!!! :good:

My LFS has a cube tank about the same size as what you're building. I'll take some pics next time I go :good: Might give you some ideas

if i was aquascaping that tank i'd do a gorge with two rock stacks parallel to each other, and maybe one in the back perpendicular to the two viewable from the front. so from the sides you could look through the gorge to the other side. would take some nice framework to accomplish tho...just my 2 cents.
btw that tank is gonna be badass no matter what you do to it. good luck...can't wait for the finished product.
