20 Gallon Tank Too Overstocked?

Hi,

Right now I have a 20 gallon lightly planted tank with the following
2 swordtails
2 gold barbs
9 neon tetras
1 bronze cory
1 albino cory
1 trili cory
1 peppered cory
3 mystery snails

I would like to get 3 more gold barbs and two more corys, plus some more plants to put along the back. Would this be too much?

also. i do water changes once every two weeks. about 40%. should i be doing something else?

Your corys should be in groups of 5 or 6 really. But you don't have the space for 5 of each variety that you currently have. I would consider trying to rehome your less favourite corys and maybe have a group of 5 of each of possibly 2 varieties.

Also i would rather do a 20% water change each week so i didn't shock the fish as much when doing it. This also helps keep the water chemistry more constant imo.

ok thanks. Diff species corys are not an issue. They shoal together 50% of the time. Being that it is one per species, the kind of have no choice, but i would like to get 2 more (a panda and possibly something else). but would it be too overstocked with 5 more fish?

Your corys won't be happy being the only one of their kind. They need to be in a group so they feel comfortable. No one on this site will recommend you get two more different varieties. It's a pretty poor lfs you use if they're selling you one cory unless they think its to increase numbers of current stock.

Cory's will school together, one of each species would be fine in my opinion, as long as you've got 5-6
