Hello, I can't find any bulb thats 18" that isn't higher then 15 watts. I really want to make my tank brighter and thats the brightest one I can find online and at my lfs. Could you point me to a website selling 20-30w 18" fluorescent bulbs? Thanks,

DL

Go with dual lighting. It's not expensive to do a retrofit and make an existing set up work that way if you don't want to/can't buy a new top.

How do I do a "retrofit" ?? I was thinking of just buying a new top and using the lighting unit out of it, the hood is about 100 dollars US (yeah great island price  ) I really couldn't build my own lighting unit because I would need help from my Dad and he already said it would be to much work.

To do a retrofit, you'll want to look in the Do-It-Yourself forum. There are a few ways to do them and I haven't done one yet. I just bought a double light strip. You can find some good ones here.

They do ship internationally. Scroll down this page a little ways and you should see where they detail how to do that. I assume you live in the UK? There might be a cheaper alternative there than international shipping from the U.S.

Actually no I don't live in the UK. I live in a place closer to the US (30 minutes away from Miami) although it is a British West Indie I think it will be cheaper to ship from US becuase its closer.

That should be cheaper. The closer you are internationally, the cheaper it is to ship I assume.

Alternatively you could go for Compact fluorescents or T5 lights. But remember increasing the lighting also increases the chances of algae.

Yeah I got that undercontrol. I got one of these scaper thingys along with a DIY Co2 injector thats ready for use.

I got a quote for internatinal shipping to the Cayman Islands, it was $112 USD not including merchandise. I mine aswell just go buy a whole new hood and use the light off of that for cheaper...

Voo, How many watts do these compact flourescent and T5 bulbs have?

my god!!!!!!!!!!!! the ballast is only £13.99 in the uk, and thats a retail shop, not an internet one. tubes are £6.99-£7.99 for 18" you must be able to get better than $112 just for postage. are you 240v or 110v?
