150G Stocking

Has anyone used a Fluval E 300w? I saw them at my lfs and they looks good and ive always found fluval a good make.

I have two, and while I like Fluval, I wouldn't recommend them. I know I don't have a conventional sized tank, but I found their 'low flow' warning annoying, especially when there was a powerhead blowing almost straight on the b%gger  They seem to have sorted themselves out now though, but my opinion is they are too sensitive, and allow the temp to go over or even under sometimes. Just get the bog standard 300w heaters  A lot cheaper!
There should be more than enough flow i plan on using a sump with a 7000lph pump so there will be atleast 10X turnover
It wont work out cheaper if it frys my tank though.
Any make you would recommend?

Any ideas other than silver dollars that would work as dithers? There going to need to be big no because of the shovelnose.
Flagtail prochilodulis can work. :)
I feed my lima shovelnose shrimp, worms, and tilipia.
Are they fairly common? i dont think ive ever seen any.
Sounds good. Alot of places say tilipia where do you get it from? will supermarkets sell it?
It depends. It some areas flagtails are common, in some their not. You will have to check with your local fish stores.
Yes supermarkets should have tilipia.
Ok cheers :good:
So whatcha you think?? You going to get a few flagtails?

At the time I had 8x turnover and it was giving me that carp. I now have 13x turnover so it's finally satisfied

See if your lfs can get them. They should be able to.

 . One of them will be going in the sump so there should be a good amount of flow through that one.

Yeah im going to next time im in there. Ive got the feeling they could be fairly expensive though.

How fast will sevs eat plants? I want some floating plants for the Limas but i know sevs love to munch on them so i was thinking if once i get the tank set up throw in a load of duckweed and let it cover the tank before i get the sevs and hopefully it would mange to reproduce as fast as the sevs are eating it so there would always be floating plants. Could that work?

The price will always depend on size.
These are the prices I paid per size.
3-4'' ( The ones I have now.) $11.99
5-6'' $29.99
12-13'' $129.99

It also depends on the lfs.

If you order them, ask for like a small size.

Im in the UK so the prices could be quite different. But ill have a look next time im at the lfs and see.

I remembered reading a link that stated flagtails were pretty common in the UK. I'll see if I can pull it up. Hopefully, your local fish store will be able to locate some. They take care of alage pretty good and eat a varity of veggies. I'm going to be making a profile for them hopefully if I can.
