125 Gallon Tank

Daily Cycle Update!
4-22-1.jpg

So I think yesterdays readings were still off the chart, but only slightly.
Todays test is obviously a 5 reading. It did something different when I first added the drops though.
When it was off the scale, the drops instantly turned to a deep purple, but this time, it turned to a 0.50 reading.

I thought nitrites would be coming down almost instantaneously *shrugs* Hopefully later tonight they'll be even lower.

As you can see, the pH was on its last legs before it crashed completely. Knew this was going to happen, just wasn't expecting it so soon after the previous one. Baking soda to the rescue! Will have to check it later to make sure I added enough heh.
But good news, it didn't seem to affect anything (yet). And nitrates are up! WOOT! They were stuck at a 5 for a while, but now show a strong 20 reading which means the cycling is on it's way, it's just going very slowly lol.

Have I posted photos of our CO2 stuff yet?

Here is the little filter we're hoping will work well as the diffuser

The canister

And the regulator w/ the silicon tubing behind it heh

Now all we need is the canister to be filled.. hopefully on Friday :)

Update on the clowns... they seem to be doing really well. Most of the spots have disappeared so I'm really happy about that. Looks like 2 of them might have a few spots left on them, so they'll be in the Q tank for at least another week to make sure the Ich is cured. They're really lively though so I'm hopeful :) I just know they're going to love the 125! Lots of hiding places for them and a ton of room to move around :)

Daily Cycle Update!! :hyper:

Loooooooooook

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Now to wait until tonight to see where it's at! WOOT!

I really want to do a water change but will wait. There's this debris ALL over the place in the tank that's getting on everything

Looks awful... no idea where it's coming from either.. *shrugs*

Still though... YAY!

Ok, scratch the part where I said that the clown loaches look good.
They look awful today. A couple of them have spots ALL over.
I dunno if that quick cure is working. Will have to go to Petsmart probably to pick something else up. Poor things :(
They're still active & eating, but don't look very happy.

Alrighty, so the tank isn't quite ready yet.. well actually it might be b/c I didn't check it until kinda late and didn't add the dose of ammonia until kinda late.
Nitrites came up as a 1 though, so I think few more days should do it.. yay! Hopefully by Thursday or Friday next week we'll be able to start buying fish :D And hopefully by then the ones we already have will be nice and settled in there... yay!

Small update...
So far so good :D
Stats have been normal cycled stuff and yep... everything looking good :D
Hopefully my freakin root tabs will come in Monday, and we get our CO2 system set up.
Impatience is getting the better of me, so might move some fish in soon.

Ya know, you would think that after all this time, we would've learned some patience, but nope :p lol
We did get some fish, and did move some fish in to the tank.
Not great photos, but will get better :)

Full tank shot. The rainbows and danios really make this tank look full already... well not in this shot, but when you're watching it lol

Rainbows mixed in w/ giant danios. Both types are SUPER hyper and they are totally loving all the space. They had their first taste of frozen bloodworm today and gobbled it up like there was no tomorrow! Going to be an experience trying to feed the slow eaters lol
4-27-5.jpg

We bought 4 peppered cories. They are so tiny, but so cute! They settled in very quickly and soon had their little faces digging in the sand  Might get 2 more just to get their numbers up some.
4-27-3.jpg

One of the juliis. Poor lil things didn't know what to do at first, but they've settled in :)
4-27-2.jpg

And 2 of the skunks w/ a pepper right above it :D I turned the lights on to take these, so they were probably resting. Really hope we can get more skunks and julii
4-27-1.jpg

The clowns are doing ok, one of them I'm not so sure about though. Still has a lot of spots on it and just doesn't look too well. Poor thing :( We got some new Ich treatment today though that I started them on. Was afraid that the other stuff I had might not have been good any longer.

tank is looking very good, love the cories and the peppers look so small

hope the clowns do well, they'll love it in there

Thanks lilfishie :)

Unfortunatly, bad news about that one clown loach. I was feeding the tanks today, looked in and saw it laying on its side beside the little bridge thing. Thought maybe it was resting as clowns do, but no, poor little guy/gal went to the big fishtank in the sky :(
Really sucks that I couldn't get it better.... sigh.....
Think we're still in the time limit so we can take it back for an exchange, will try to make sure to get a larger one though. Hopefully it will be a bit more healthy.

We ended up taking back the dead clown and another that wasn't too far behind that one. Feel so awful, but really nothing more I could've done for it :( I should've euthanized it but just didn't have the heart to do it. Not that I haven't done it before w/ other fish, but I dunno... poor little clowns :-(

The 2 we got in exchange are bigger and look better... hopefully no more clown deaths.... SIGH. I really want them in the big tank already! Damn ich!

No more photos yet... going to wait for the rest of the plants to come in before I take more :) Well actually maybe I'll take some tomorrow heh. Get a before shot since tomorrow is going to be the first full day of CO2 in the tank.. yay! :D

As for the rainbows... they're just hybrids I believe. I know that's not really looked upon well but w/ the cost of some of the fish we want... well.. we figured we'd enjoy these just as much as the more expensive "pure" ones lol.
They're awesome though. They may not be as colorful as the boseman or turquoise, but they're SO active, and school w/ the giant danios. Maybe down the road, we'll get a couple of the pure bred ones as well :)

So lets see... other fish we still need to get...

BGK, Tiger Barbs, clown plecos, 2 more skunk cories, 2 more julii, maybe 2 more peppered.
I know DH really wants a peacock eel, but I just don't think it would do well in the tank w/ such aggressive eaters. It's going to be hard enough feeding the BGK. So trying to find an alternative to that.

Alrighty, bad photos time! lol
The room gets SO much light that it glares off the tank, so I have to use a flash which just makes it all look blah.
I'll try to get some better ones tonight.

First up... the CO2 tubing, sucky bubble counter, and the filter/diffuser inside of the tank. It's right up under the output thing. HA didn't even notice the little goober killifish in the photo begging for food rofl.

CO2 canister inside the cabinet. Ignore the dust/pollen :D

Random shots of the tank & plants. Hoping to get new plants today! And really hoping to see some improvement in them since we have the CO2 going now :)
I really need to try to get the water streaks off the tank when I take photos next time hehe

The killifish. Tryed to get a photo of him the other day, but he doesn't photo well at night. Our lights aren't very bright so photos were always dark.
Love this fish even though he was a pin in the butt before.
Checking me out

Next up, bad photos of the danios and rainbows!.... They move SO quickly.. freakin hard trying to get a good shot of them.
Like this one... 1 second they were all there, the next... well... it looked like this heh

And finally a shot of the peppered cories. I think they've already grown some.
