125 Gallon Tank

SMall update for right now...
Just found 3 of the clowns dead... and the other 2 aren't far behind it :( Poor babies. I feel so terrible

Sorry to hear about the clowns, they would of looked amazing in your tank, atleast you gave them a chance :good:

Alrighty, so I said I'd take some photos once the new lights came in, and here they are.... with my 10 pages of commentary of course! heh

First up, one of the new lights.. YAY!

OOO look at all that wattage hehe.... Will give about 1.2wpg on each side of the tank... SOOOOOOO much better! I think we might need to replace one bulb out of each though.

The brace thing that I had no idea how to get on.... and my camera hog dog Cid wanting some attention.... lol
5-6-3.jpg

It's so bright now! I actually kinda liked that subtle lighting but it was doing nothing for the plants
Anywho... little turd nugget tiger barbs. Little beasts are nipping at the killifish. I better not wake up to find my killi without any fins! There will be hell to pay!

We went to Petsmart to give back the dead pleco and get an exchange for it. This is the little guy we got. He's bigger than the previous one and the other one still in the tank, so hopefully that means he'll actually live. We acclimated him extra long.

And the other rubberlip. It always hides under the piece of wood behind the castle. So long as it's alive, I'm ok with that :D

The skunks in their usual sleeping spot. They love that corner.. *shrugs* Whatever floats their boat heh.
This little guy is one of our oldest fish we have. Poor thing has no whiskers/feelers. He was like that when we got him. It hasn't stopped him though :)

OO and exciting news on the BGK front!.... It was actually out of the castle today! WOO! Not actually swimming around or anything lol.. It was hiding in the piece of wood behind the castle, but hey, that's still something! It was there during feeding time, so I fed it there, and it was just so cute watching it eat! I LOVE THIS FISH!
This is it swimming back in to the castle lol

Clown Loaches and new tanks dont mix, they generally prefer well established tanks :(

They weren't in the 125gal tank... they were in a cycled quarantine tank that has been set up for a while now. They had ich when we bought them (didn't notice any spots at the store)... I tryed treating them, but the ich only seemed to get worse.
We should've just taken them right back, but I wanted to try to save them :(

SIGH...... We'll try to get some at the LFS next time. Theirs always seem to be healthy and ich free.

Sorry to hear about the Clowns. :( Tank is looking great though!

Clown Loaches are a magnet for Ich, Me personally if I were to keep them it would be after the addition of a UV filter on the tank in the hope this might kill some of the bacteria that can kick off Ich in the fish :)

I think we're going to the LFS after the movies tomorrow, and see how their clowns look. I just HOPE that if we get some and bring them home, they don't end up having it as well...... SO disheartening when something like that happens.

There used to be a guy at the LFS that knew us, but he's since moved on to whatever.... he was mainly the saltwater expert though, but he was nice and REALLY enthusiastic heh.

The Petsmart people are starting to recognize us though lol.

So we did end up going to the LFS, BUT their fish looked awful still.
They did have an awesome looking albino BN pleco though that we're tempted to get, but *shrugs*
All of their clown loaches looked like they had ich though unfortunatly. :( Did get some plants from them though, so not a totally wasted trip.

While we were over on that side of town... went to that Petsmart to see what they had. And their clowns (for the most part) looked great. Nice and plump and healthy looking and NO ICH! WOO.. So we bought 6 of them, along with 6 albino tiger barbs and some cabomba :)

We floated the clowns, waiting to see if any ich was apparent, and nope. So not wanting to risk them getting infected with it from the Q tank, we decided to risk just putting them straight in to the 125. Really hope that doesn't come back to bite us on the butt!
They seem fine though.
SO funny... they were trying to school with the tiger barbs! The tiger barbs didn't know what the heck to do so just kept following along for a while hehe
Also funny, while the fish were still being acclimated, the killifish just hovered and stared at the barbs and loaches. Freakin love that fish too  He has such a curious little mind.

Anywho! Photos of them floating... will get some of them in the tank once they've settled.

UGH..... I'm so disheartened right now.

First up, lets update a little bit...
I have a planted tank journal that I think will be where I do my updates now....
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=287531

Have more plants etc etc.
Clowns and albino barbs are doing really well so far.

The thing that is disheartening me are the plecos. I just don't understand why they keep dying.
I just found 1 of them half eaten on the bottom of the tank. No idea how long it's been dead and I have no idea where the other one is. Disadvantage of having a planted tank I guess... sigh. I'm just so frustrated and sad and angry that we can't keep them alive.
Not sure what to do. Maybe just not even try plecos.

nice to see you didn't give up on haveing Clowns, they are beautiful fish if kept correctly

more piccys pwease :good:

Is it always rubberlip plecos that die? They always die on me too. It's the temperature, they don't do well in warmer temperature and prefer more like 22 to survive (apparently) so I don't keep them now
