10Gal Or 20Gal? Planted Betta Tank?

SO I want to do a planted nano tank for my betta who really needs his own space. He is in a 80gal with discus not a good set up for him. He has had a hard life it's time I give him a good home.

So I am thinking a 10gal but then I think well I have a 20gal and bigger is better. His tank mates will be 4 Pygmy corys. If I do the 20gal I would add a small school and mybe ottos.

i heard some where that bettas don't really like that much space ( i might be wrong ) i read that they don't feel safe ?

Get 20 gal and 6 cories, they like to school.

I guess it depends on your betta's temperament? For example, my quieter male is ripping himself to shreds in the 60 ltr that he shares with only 4 corys, I don't know if it's because it's such a bigger territory that he feels he has to defend? I've had to divide it anyway just in case. On the other hand, my other male who is really feisty would probably do great with the whole 60ltr.

Well this guy had a 5gal then shared a 36gal. Now he is in the 80gal. I am thinking the 10gal would be good. I could always up grade to my 20gal. Bettas like tanks that are not too deep. That's way the 10gal would be good.

Id get a 10 gallon. Bettas generally don't like tankmates and so he would benefit being alone. Maybe add some Shrimp though

Personally I'd go for the 10gal based on presuming the 20gal is quite a bit taller (especially with what you said).

Plus cause bettas can be a bit of a nightmare to mix with tank mates then you might find you end up bored/dissappointed by the 20gal if it feels very lightly stocked, which is likely.

Mr sexy has been with takemates all his life and he is 3yr or older. He is not that bad and gets along well with Cory cats he has lived with them before.

Yes the 10gal it is.
