yeah I might want to go and get sand for them but the only problem is is cleaning sand to go in a tank is such a hastle.I think some cherry barbs would be okay in a ten gallon, but not sure about putting them in with a betta. I've heard reports where they're fine but also reports where they didn't get on. Switch to sand and get kuhlis, you know you want toSand means you have more options for bottom dwellers.
Well really for all new gravel it is recommended to clean them just in-case but believe me it is well worth it any type of sand, beach colour would be nice. I have had black whih gave out colours from my cichlids and now i am using white which does the same as, but i think black seemed better as the fish really stood out with black sand and background.
