Well youre certainly right about it not being the easiest way but if you have a decent amount of fw experience you should be ok. You could have an invert and/or mushroom tank. A very small fish might work but I wouldn't really suggest it.

2-3 days is fine without food. I'd say up to a week or so is perfectly acceptable

How long will you be gone? Unless its a very long time the oscar will be fine with no food. Idk about the pleco. I know when jd's grow they can be very mean but I'd think it should be ok, plecs are tough fish.

^^^ Seconded. Don't use feeders (rosy reds, goldfish, other cyprinids) to feed any fish. If you must feed live fish, which you don't, breed your own guppies or other fish without thiaminase.

To be safe I'd take care of it. Drain the tank 3/4 of the way and CAREFULLY slide it. Don't slosh it too much, that's what can break a tank.
