My yoyo has a swollen belly. He/she is active, eating normal and swimming round loads exploring everything. Water tested yesterday levels all good ammonia 0- nitrite 0 - nitrate 5. Tried to get best photos I could

have a clown loach in the tank as was mis sold as a yoyo.

thank you

maybe shes pregnant? assuming its a she because, well pregnant,.
idk tho.

I have been told that female loaches get very plump from holding eggs, and will likely keep holding them. Even if you did have other yoyo loaches in the tank, they rarely breed in the home aquarium.

No. As this is a single female there is nothing for the eggs to be fertilized with. It is also almost unheard of for Yoyo Loaches to breed in home aquaria. It most likely takes some sort of temperature flux or certain specific, yet unknown, events in the wild to induce spawning.

She does eat alot so im wondering if seperating her and lower feeding makes a difference?

That could help. I know my Dwarf Chain loaches will overeat if I give them half a chance. But if it is a female, they naturally look plumper, with rounded stomachs once they are fully mature.

It's not mature so won't be eggs.

How long has it been fat for?
Stop feeding it for a couple of days and see if it loses weight.

Add some more, they like to be in groups of at least 6.
Get rid of the clown loach.
