We may or may not have the first one (or one of the first 6 all bought same day). My wife got 3 red-eye tetras and 3 serpae tetras. Later we bought 4 to 6 more of each. We lost all the red-eyes in a strange situation a few months ago but still have 4 serpae tetras. Most likely we still have at least one or 2 of the serpaes but it's possible they are all gone.

First tropical fish were 5 serpae tetra still going strong

My first fish was actually a betta, but my first tropical was a pearl gourami.

i voted i dunno.

my first fish were 5 neon tetras, introduced to a un cycled tank over two years ago (never new about cycling then)

the have move home 3 times and i had to take them back to the shop as i could hold them any more. they were tough little neons with such cool personalitys. they would come to the front if i looked in but if someone else did they hid lol. bit gutted i needed to take them in but it was best for them

my first fish was a fairground goldfish that lasted a total of 2 weeks.....
my first tropical was a male sailfin molly that also didnt last too long

My parents never took me to the fair... I've only been to one, except of course the Minnesota state fair, which totally rocks!
And they never had anything ever relating to the aquatics, atleast what I'm awear of...

oops I voted wrong. I was thinking of my current tank. I can;t remember my very very first fish. It was in March 2000...I expect it died as I never knew about cycling or anything.

However in my current tank I still have my first set of fish (cories and botia striata). It's only be running since March this year though.

//edit
strictly speaking though my first personal fish that was mine was a white koi in my dads pond (really ugly but I loved him) He was alive for about 10 years...he died sometime last year :(

first was a betta, actually a couple of bettas

got my first tropicals 5 or 6 days ago, 5 juvenile tiger barbs and a rosy red minnow

p.s. will my rosy red minnow live still if i put it in a unheated unfiltered betta tank (minnow will be the only fish in the tank)? because i found out that the rosy red minnows can grow up to 3', which is too big for my tank

I have four Zebra Daino Soldiers, had five but one died.

I call these soldiers because they survive anything, they are really amazing little fishies

Oh yeh and my betta and 4 platys are still alive also, but I only started this hobby just over a month ago:p

my first fish was a blue veil tail siamese fighter from my local fish shop.
he lived to the ripe old age of 7 and a half years so his life was filling and lengthy.
