Cant remember where it was but theres a thread around here somewhere about the fish highways again and someone posted a smaller alternative for joining 2 tanks.

it worked by using water pressure to keep the water in a tube that went above the waterline like a bridge between the tanks.

jus wondering if anyone knew how big the tank had to be to have enough pressure to hold all the water in the tube?

all my tanks are clean and healthy so i need something else to mess with.

ive made a diagram of where i want to do it but im not sure the tanks are big enough at about 4G and 6G?

if this will work i was gonna use a clear tube (obviously) but then to hold it in place i was gonna try find something to use for the legs that would be heavy enough to do the job (shouldnt be that hard cos if i do it right it will be totally full of water and sinking anyway (i think).

so what do you guys think?

use wire hanging from the cieling... that's how the real fish highway was suspended. I wish I had saved the link for that. I'd forgotten all about the thing.

wow that looks awesome! def post pics if you do it..... oh and no one show this thread to Ian

Looks kool sam. I bet you GF will go bannas if she saw plans for this. Also is that another new tank on the right?

LOLOL!!! shell come to accept it in time

im more worried about the fact the bridge itself will be crossing over my monitor and computer desk.

think i need to get it right first time.

oh and of course theyll be pics if i do it!

yeah definately be careful with that, don't want it to leak when your cleaning it or something and get fishy water all over your pc :/

the guy on the website has a betta in his tank and it loved it. even spawned in the tube.

would be great too having a betta tank like that.

mines for my lil goldfish to buy me some time before he goes into the big pond in our garden.

cant fit a big tank for him so ill jus join 2 :)

would joining 2 tanks like that equal the same space as a bigger tank, obviously you could get the same amount of gallons but surley them being restricted to only half of it at a time would alter things? Not sure how that would work?

well i was thinking of adding a pump somehow so the water circulates but im not sure it would be possible without some kind of return pipe.

it does more than double his swimmig space tho so i dont see why its not like joining 2 tanks?

sorry i'm having a bit of a blonde day for explaining stuff today, not doing very well. Yes it can go between the two tanks so it has more room overall and places to swim..... but it would only have half the space at any one time.... part of the calculations for how much room a fish needs is allowing for turning space and that sort of thing and surley in 2 small connected tanks that would still be restricted. Oh I know what I mean, just can't seem to say it very well!
