You Think This Will Work?

let me know sizes etc and I'll ask if I can get one :good:

8) That does look really cool. I'd like to try something similar some time.
I a saw water bridge kit at my favorite lps a while back but didn't want to pay what they were asking for it. I don't remember how much it was, but it was just a little plastic thing, maybe 4 inches by 10, I think that would be about 20cm long by around 8cm wide.
Even before that, probably back when I wanted an aquarium but didn't have 1 set up yet, I saw a whole set up in the back of the same store that had a tunnel between 2 big tall tanks, but not above, it was more like in the middle. It looked really neat, but I didn't even know where I could put it and it didn't stay there for long. It was all made of acrylic, and the whole thing was clear. I don't remember how much they wanted for that 1 either. Probably more than I had available, but it seems like it was not as expensive as I expected. That would probably be harder to clean because the tunnel was apparently permanently attatched. It's all kind of inspiring though. It makes me want to do some research and get creative in case I ever decide I have enough space and resources to have fun playing with stuff. Maybe I should start small. the 2 guppy tanks in my sister's room would be perfect to add a simple bridge to if the lids don't get in the way too much. :shifty:

thats how i was feeling when i first read about the bridges.

i could do one from my 80G to my 180G but i dnt think it would be good letting those fish mix (big oscar and little tetras lol).

if i get it to work perfectly tho i might get a bit more ambitious and move my goldfish out and try to join these tanks to my 80G which is at the other end of the room.

now that would be ace.

im startin to think big tho. LED lights in the tube etc.

payday friday so i can start playing then.

ill keep you all posted so you can see where i go wrong haha.

How about a whole tank made up soley of those clear pipes??

would take up the space of a tank if you can tell from the drawing, you could add more levels with less gaps if you wanted more volume, but I think it'd look amazing like that, possibly with pipes in a cross in the centre to support the whole thing.

Would be really easy to change water, have a tap at a bottom part - I'd do it at the back with a hose that could reach to a bucket/sink, and a removeable cap at the top somewhere - would mean that you wouldn't have as much need for a filter as it could be done quite easily on a daily basis.

Not sure about heat dissapation - but you could add a filter quite easily - cut a hole in the bottom pipe, take the plug off the heater and thread the cable through, and then fill the gap with a solvent.

Be a really unique looking tank, I'd love if someone did it and showed us the pics :p

That's a pretty cool idea. I can't imagine that you would want to have anything big in it, though, since there wouldn't be a lot of open room to swim in. Cleaning it could be difficult - then again it could be made to come apart without having to drain the whole thing.

that basically what the fish highway is except it goes round your room.

i think someone posted a link to the official site back on page 1. its crazy, if you imagine the air conditioning pipes they always crawl through on films, its like that but clear perspex and full of water.

if i found a good source of clear pvc pipes and all i needed locally and it doesnt cost me a credit card then im sure ill be playing around alot.

One going all the way around your room would be amazing, held up by wires on the ceiling.

Yeh, it'd have to be loads of smaller fish, more of a show thing.

If it went all the way round your room you could incorporate some sort of system whereby water entered at one end slowly, and dripped out of the other end slowly.

I'd love to do this if I wasn't a poor student with exams :(

i was thinking more along the lines of the things the hold drain pipes up with.

wouldnt want it to swing lol.

ive got a feeling the tubing wil be quite expensive tho so im not planning that far ahead.

much.

There are several places on the internet that sell clear pvc. Just google clear pvc, and several places will come up. This is a very cool idea, but an expensive one. That clear pvc is some expensive stuff. Comes to be between $25-$30 USD per foot. Awsome idea. What us fish people wouldn't do to do something different for our pets

im in the UK which makes it a bit harder.

well if its that price here in the UK then making it a tube must be a specialised job or something cos you can buy a 6x2 sheet 12mm thick for just over £10.

im considering getting handy with some silicone and a drain pipe if i have to.

could cut out a strip of the drain pipe so if you looked at it from the end it would kinda be a C shape.

then get some thinner perspex and silicone it over creating a kinda window in the pipe?

what do you guys think of that?

mite make the fish feel safer if it isnt totally clear.
