yeh i rembere him having a betta see ive got a male in the small tank and a female in the larger tank

sorry i'm having a bit of a blonde day for explaining stuff today, not doing very well. Yes it can go between the two tanks so it has more room overall and places to swim..... but it would only have half the space at any one time.... part of the calculations for how much room a fish needs is allowing for turning space and that sort of thing and surley in 2 small connected tanks that would still be restricted. Oh I know what I mean, just can't seem to say it very well!

i get what you mean but it does still have all the extra space of the new tank.

kinda like having a really big ornament right in the middle of your tank that your fish has to swim through except its better cos it doesnt take up space in the tank at all.

i think.




i guess if i had bigger fish then it wouldnt really buy me anything and what your saying kinda comes into play but my goldys only tiny (jus over 1" body) so the extra space and extra water (for dilution of all the crap) will do him good.

fair enough, i didn't mean it would nescessarily be an issue for you, just that overall I don't think connecting two tanks is quite the same as 1 big tank

Ian might, he knows someone who works in a perspex factory.......... if you can make pipes out of it then he should be able to get you one if you wanted. want me to ask him tonight?

i emailed a company but i imagine they do bulk orders of 10ft pipe so wont be able to help with my lil piece.

Yes. Sam that goldy will outgrow the pipe quite quickly anyway. Plecs are the most adventurus into them i would imagine.

well ive had him a few months now and he hasnt grown much so i think i have time yet.

go for it! just whenn trying it put a coat or something over your pc or else if it leaks you'll hate that bridge pretty quickly lol

remember the computer monitor needs to breath, well mine has holes all over the top to allow warm air to escape it wont like these being covered up

How are you going to filter the tanks? Could you use a higher flow filter in one tanks and a slightly lower flow one in another so there is a flow imbalance and a tunnel current?

at the moment his tank is unfiltered and i jus clean it out every 3 or 4 days.


i think if i wanted to filter this then id need a return pipe so that the tank without the filter didnt over flow.




since the tanks are small ill be playing with this idea outside before i try it in my room!


oh and if you look at the pic, my PC monitor is in the center jus below the edge of the pic so theres loads of room for breathing.

I`d love to see that done it would be fantastic but a lot of hard work.

could silicone the pieces together to make them water tight......

see if miss wiggles can get hold of the pipe first i think cos then it will be a solid clear pipe and i dnt have to worry that its not totally water tight.
