Yf Can Taste The Salt..

Yeah, I think you will be going with her to deliver!
Lol.
Im more worried than excited though.
Trod - you will know the anwser to this one.
Once the tank arrives, am I able to just leave it as it is with the LR in etc.
Until I feel confident enough to do things like Water Changes, then adding corals and what not etc.
Or will it need to have water changes etc?

YF

That is how we all feel to start with, sick with worry

It really isn't as difficult as you think :good:

I would do water changes, as you have snails, worms, asterina and live rock in there - but if you are worried about the salt mixing, which you shouldn't be it's easy, just buy salted from your lfs and heat it up :good:

I will try to remember to bring you some salty stuff, just remind me nearer the time :good:

It will be fine, to leave for a while, water changes are done to replace elements which are used up by corals etc. and as there won't be any in there, you should be fine, and sometimes to help reduce high nitrAte levels, but water changes are really easy to do, they sound a lot harder than they are. :good:
Just get yourself a couple of spare buckets, cheap spare heater and powerhead, a tube for siphoning water would be handy too and you'll be all set :flowers:

I have a tube, and 25w heater. So theres tht sorted. Will just have to pick myself up a cheap powerhead and a 25l bucket.
So if I do a 25l w/c each week, thats the right amount to do?
As I will just buy 25l ready salted water from the LFS.
Will only cost me about £15 a month for w/c which I will be fairly happy about.

Well if they want to, theres a fish shop that has a massive room dedicated to Marine.
He has one of the largest selections in the East Midlands.
I know, two girls delivering it. how lucky am I!
I will have to do my hair and everything!
Lol

Ah, brilliant. I think I will buy ready salted water already then, does that mean I just add it in the water just like I would do with a tropical tank? But ovbiously get it up to tempreture first. Could you give me a list of what I would need to purchase additionally for this tank. Such as the containers, refractometer etc. Im glad your here to help, you and your sister are the main two that actually made me want to turn marine. So I blame you! Lol. If you could email me a list of what you think I should purchase just to get me by the first couple of months, so just the essentials. Thanks!

ps erm, two old ladies  and yes, think we will have to visit that shop Trod :good: would be rude not to

seffie and trod, if you are up leicester way then it may be worth you nipping up a few more junction and having a peak in here.

great shop. awesome fresh water displays, breeding pairs or rays. Its also where my flasher came from

That would be perfect, :good:
I would advise you look at getting your own RO unit though as the £15 will soon add up, over a six month period

6 X £15 = £90
+ petrol and hassle.
Water from LFS is not always the best quality, something to think about, especially if you want corals.

RO unit http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.ph...24df8c2d9e67610 = £90
Salt 25kg bucket = £50
+ no hassle.

You could break even in around a year :good:

There are a few big marine places near me, also that huge warehouse place, that is 98% marine fish etc.
Thats around a 20 minutes drive from me.
I think im going to get salted water for a start.
Then after a couple of months get a RO unit.
Omg, im so excited

WOW, i'm so excited for you!! Brill news & a gorgeous tank, what lovely ladies you are.

Not sure how close Coventry is to you? Theres a really nice man there who we buy salted RO water from for £4 for 25ltrs (unsalted is £2) the water containers he sells for £6 as well, might be worth a visit? He does have livestock as well, but I wasnt able to go look last time.

Coventry is about 26 miles from me.
A bit far but if its a lot cheaper than my LFS I will go there.
I carnt wait kari.
Excited and worried at the same time.

if you ever go to wharf im sure i can be talked into making the trip at the same time. Il donate a frag of something. Toadstool will probably be about ready by the time your cycle is over.

Wow, thanks a lot ben!
Hopefully I will be driving.
Starting lessons end of july, and my uncles an instructor.
So im aiming for about 10 lessons a week.
Then I will hopefully have some corals to frag and deliver to people for free.
You, Kari, Seffie, Trod, etc etc.
