Today my mom finally agreed to letting me have a pair. She checked out aquabid and emailed the bidder and now I'm waiting for an email back, and then I can bid.

But this weekend I'm going to the mountains and on the way is a petco (the same one with the pure yellow ct!!) and we're going to get a 5 gallon and a divider with a filter and heater.. I don't know about the filter though, maybe just an airstone? Will that do much? But anyway, yay. It's going to be a steel hybrid.

Congrats! That's totally exciting.

An airstone really serves no purpose with bettas, and the surface agitation usually annoys them... but it does prevent the sort of "slimy" coating on top of water that is stagnant. It's not a big deal though, and a filter would do the same thing. Neither is really necessary though.

Seeing as how it serves no purpose, I might as well not waste the money. I might make a sponge filter for the tank is I really feel like it. Let's see, I'll probably buy some live plants like java moss or fern or something... add some rocks and some natural gravel, perhaps a piece of fake wood and attach the ferns or moss to it.
